Christine Thompson – Publicist

Christine belongs to a unique sub-culture of Americans known as military brats. Kris Kristofferson sums it up in this trailer, http://www.bratsourjourneyhome.com/clips.htm . You're going to need eight minutes to see all of it, skip to the next part if you're just skimming. It's worth a look because it will help you understand things from Christine's perspective.

I am a publicist. A publicist is someone who has had specific training, either in the school of hard knocks or by getting a degree from an institution. I have both.

My background is in advertising, broadcast and print journalism, to be specific, with a dash of marketing thrown in.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1982, and was an active member in the PRSSA (Public Relations Society of America) , and proceeded to work for large and small institutions. I received an Addy Award in 1985 for a print catalog made for Memphis State University, edging out Federal Express. Shortly after that, I chose the path of endless servitude and slavery – i.e. motherhood – to focus instead on raising my four children.

In the 20 year interim, I taught Aerobics, as it is the perfect job for a mom. I was certified by AFAA and also had had certifications in water aerobics, spin, pilates, step, and personal training. It was a great experience as it taught me to crawl out of my painfully shy persona*, brought on by my unique experience as a displaced military brat (see above).

Since 2002, when AMFM (Austin Music Film Media) Productions was born, I have been working with many clients both emerging and well-known, helping them successfully market their product with the tools a publicist uses.

This website, www.amfmstudios.com, is a platform for my clients. The clients listed on my website have EPKs, or Electronic Press Kits, which I produce in order to promote their product/event. These press kits are global in nature, and have had great success in driving business to my clients as a result.

Examples of an event EPK would be: www.amfmstudios.com/funkybatz, www.amfmstudios.com/rwb and an example of a client EPK would be www.amfmstudios.com/ams, www.amfmstudios.com/wolfpack
.
I am one of the founding members of the Wolfpack Film Group, and together we:
  • Make Films, both features and shorts
  • Make commercials, radio and television
  • Have large events with at least two venues being part of the Wolfpack, including Nuno's on Sixth (www.nunosonsixth.com) and The Oaks in Manor (www.theoakslive.com)

What people say about Christine:

"I've worked with the top Publicist in New York and London, and working with Christine and the Wolfpack was refreshing, the best experience I've had in a long time. They are a productive, fun group and I highly recommend Christine as a top-notch Publicist."

Ian Halperin, New York Times best selling author

Robin Blesch – Producer

Robin is a 4.0 student just 9 credits shy of senior status at the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently majoring in Anthropology/Archaeology.

Robin has always had a love for film and a love for history and culture, which is what attracted her to her first film project, the "Blade of the King" concept film. After producing that project, she was hooked on making films.

Robin is a Constant Multi-tasker with a strong eye for detail. She has the ability to manage small or large groups, and has experience running film sets with up to a 50-man crew. Her exceptional outside the box thinking, rapid problem solving abilities, and great financial skills paired with her tactical and strategic planning skills make her a valuable asset to any production. Robin's drive for success and willingness to go the extra mile make her one of From the Flames Productions’ (FTFP) key leaders, and one of the reasons she made partner after only her first year with the company.

Besides producing, Robin has worked in many other capacities in the filmmaking process.

    Production Designer
    Production Coordinator
    Location Manager
    1st and 2nd AD
    Editor
    Graphic Design Artist
    Wardrobe Director
    Craft Services Director
Robin also created and organizes the filmmaking group in Austin, TX called The Wolfpack. The group is comprised of a combination of professional and amateur filmmakers who are dedicated to creating quality independent films. Her goal for the group is to create an awesome network of filmmakers and artists who can come together, work together, and how what independents are capable of.

This summer, during FTFP’s festival tour with the “Blade of the King” (CF), Robin was one of the Featured speakers at the Action on film International Film Festival in a panel discussion during the filmmaker mixer. During this event she is quoted as saying,
“Independent filmmakers are almost always regarded as the under dogs, who are weaker, lesser, and therefore left begging for funding. I say underdogs can compete just as well as top dogs, if given a fair chance. […] I have also heard many filmmakers say, “Well if this film doesn’t make it, I’m choosing a new profession.” I think that’s the wrong attitude; you can be successful at anything you put your mind to if you work hard, and never give up!”

Michael Morlan – Director of Photography

Michael Morlan is a camera operator, director of photography and director in Austin, Texas. He’s been actively involved in industrial, commercial, and narrative production since 1988. He got his start as a 3D animator for a large architectural firm in Houston and quickly took on the roles of editor, director, and producer.

After a couple years as a freelance broadcast designer, He moved to Austin in 1995 to work as a writer, director, and animator for Origin Systems, a computer game developer. He got serious about building a narrative film career in 1996 when he attended a local film production seminar taught by Steve Mims and lit his first 16mm film. He still proudly sports a frame from that first film on his business card - a picture of Death peering through a keyhole to his "patient" on the other side. Since then, he’s shot, lit, written and directed a variety of short-form productions for others and himself - and learned a lot along the way.

As a member of the Austin Film Society's Speaker's Bureau, he also conduct seminars on lighting for those new to the craft, as well as write an occasional article on various aspects of film and video production.

Jen Leleux - Make Up Artist

Hello, my name is Jennifer Le Leux and I am a makeup artist/stylist. I started doing makeup when I was in junior high into high school for my freinds prom/homecoming and things like that. That turned into doing makeup for weddings and getting referred and actually getting paid for doing makeup! I then realized this was what I wanted to do for a living. I trained in L.A at Award Studio doing fashion shoots that involved hair, makeup, and dressing the models. I really enjoy doing these kinds of fast paced photography shoots. When I got back to Austin I continued doing photography shoots and music videos, and even worked full time at Glamour Shots. This advanced my skills even more because I had to wofk on so many different skin and hair types, not to mention having to do it all in a timely manner! All this has prepared me for movies, which is what I really want to do! Please click on the attachment to view my zed card and the following links to see me in action working on a music video.
